Healthcare Initiatives in Armenia (ongoing)

  • Partnership with Armenia’s Ministry of Health and local NGOs

  • Part-time representative (in-country) for project support

  • Medical missions and individual traveler program

 

  • COVID-19 response:

    • Supplies to Yerevan hospitals (masks, cannulas)

    • Oxygen concentrators to Gyumri & Vardenis nursing homes

    • “Shoonch” home oxygen program for the elderly (20 units)

    • Multiple shipments of medical supplies (2020–21)

  • Major donor of high-volume oxygen generator at Alikhanyan National Lab

 

  • Equipment donations:

    • 40-ft container of medical supplies for 2 hospitals

    • Durable medical equipment for hospitals and soldiers (x-rays, c-arms, etc.)

    • Hyperbaric oxygen therapy program at Mikaelyan Institute, ongoing

  • Support for medical libraries:

    • DynaMed & UpToDate subscriptions (NIH, Republican Library, 2 hospitals)

  • Rehab training workshops, telemedicine sessions, and ongoing medical education

  • Partnered with Partners for World Health for supply deliveries

Representative Ongoing and Future Work

Establishment of the AAMA Healthcare Advancement Grant Program 

  • 2022 Recipients:  
    • Tufenkian Foundation “Artsakh Combat Casualty Care” to provide training in Artsakh for triage and emergency care for combat injuries in order to minimize trauma and reduce casualties  
    • Viva Charity Foundation “Prenatal Screening” to provide prenatal genetic screening for mothers of all ages residing in the Shirak Marz  
    • Program expanded for 2023 to include a total of four grants
  • CME programs including work with  ICPD 
  • Opportunities for US-based Armenian healthcare students to undertake training in the Marzes (Lori), supported by and in collaboration with Children of Armenia Fund (COAF) medical facilities 
  • Annual scholarships for New England-based healthcare students (medicine, nursing, physician assistant, etc.)
  • Inaugural Healthcare Innovation and Research Symposium, October 2023, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
